Then all the world was founded in 2018 by Mark Hignett who is also the curator of Oswestry Town Museum.
Then all the world came about when Mark was looking through Ebay for some artefacts for the museum. He stumbled across 3 love letters that were for sale. The letters intrigued mark as they were sent to a soldier currently doing their basic training at Park Hall Farm in Oswestry. Mark decided to purchase the letters so he could loan them to Oswestry Town Museum for a display. |
Mark then realised that more letters had gone up for sale on Ebay. He bought a few more and then someone outbid him for one of the sets. This made Mark determined to buy all of the other letters that came up for sale, which he did.
Mark, Harriet and a handful of Volunteers at Oswestry Town Museum then decided to start transcribing the letters, it was only then that they realised the incredible story hidden in the pages. As they continued to transcribe the letters, they found that whoever these people were, they were very clearly in-love with one another. Many of the letters were signed off by 'Your ever loving G' Mark, Harriet and the team at the museum thought that 'G' was Gilbert's girlfriend or fiance. But, as the letters progressed they soon discovered that 'Your ever loving G' was in fact another soldier called Gordon. |
It turned out that Mark had actually stumbled across a cache of love letters between two gay soldiers. This was an incredible discovery, not just for the museum but for the entire town. This opened peoples eyes to a brand new way of living, and gave people another reason to be that bit more accepting of the LGBT community.
