June 2022
A short (8 min) film on the story in the letters had its worldwide premier at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York where it was very well recieved.
July 2022
The next outing for the film was at 'Outfest' the largest LGBTQ film festival in the world.
August 2022Interest in the letters and their story continues from all around the world. This month saw emails from USA, France, UK, Canada, Belgium and China.
September 2022
The National Heritage Open Days Festival (September 9th - 18th) once again features talks given by Mark Hignett to update folks on what has been happening since the previous year.
The Gilbert and Gordon presentation was given to Llansillin History Society on Monday 12th September.
October 2022
Interesting contact from a playwriter wanting to chat about the possibility of a stage play based on the letters.
November 2022
Call received from a composer from the USA to explore the possibility of a song cycle or mini opera based on the story told in the letters.
December 2022
More emails from around the world. Its amazing that the interest in this story continues to grow.
January 2023
Planning starts for the year ahead with bookings for talks and presentations in the coming months including a presentation to the WMCA (West Midlands Combined Authority) as part of their LGBT+ History Month programme.
Also work going forward to get Shropshire Council Licencing team to give us authority to show the film in the Shropshire area.
February 2023
On Thursday 16th February a presentation to WMCA is held as a part of their LGBTQ+ History month.
On Wednesday 22nd February the 8 minute short film 'The Lettermen' is shown as part of the 'Love Oswestry' festival. It is accompanied by a 30-40 minute presentation by Mark Hignett describing the journey to uncover the story in the letters.
June 2025
On Sunday 1st June the supporters page and link are now open and operating, anyone who wants to support the book either with a donation or by securing a space to include their own thoughts, memories or commemorations can now do so by following one of the links on the donation page. On Friday 20th June more exiting news announced. Mark is having discussions with a ghost writer to help with production of the book. Great care is being taken to tell the story both truthfully and with all due reverence to a love story that has stood the test of time.
